"Water's Filters", 2010

LOTT Clean Water Alliance Regional Services Center, Olympia, WA, Architects, Miller/Hull Partnership, LLP

"Water's Filters" explores microorganisms floating in a fresh water aquatic environment. The artwork takes the form of glass panels in the east & west entry vestibules of the lab & education center.

The installation's inspiration is sourced from the restorative, reflective and metaphorical qualities of water. Mysterious and beautiful images of microorganisms float in translucent glass and are referenced by Water Education Center staff during educational tours. Many of the microscopic images are symbolic markers of a balanced healthy aquatic environment, while others are gauges to develop water quality standards that help protect the aquatic ecosystem.
